Bash scripts for oncogenetics purposes
Before I found my second job in bioinformatics, I didn't need Linux at all. The very first clash with reality came when I tried to run a tool called DeepTMHMM locally, because there were significant limitations through the web application. Thanks to this close encounter of the third kind, I was then able to truthfully answer in interviews that I had some experience with Linux :), but the real ones came when working with Next-Generation Sequencing data and analyzing specific problematic gene loci using various tools.
Special thanks to Colt Steele.
